2005 & 2003 Wisconsin Class 4 State Champions,
2003 Wisconsin High School Coach of the Year

Special teams play has been a key to Ripon High Schools 38-2 record over the past three seasons. Coach Kelm believes that special teams must receive as much emphasis in practice and planning as offense and defense. Being aggressive and calculated make this special teams' package effective. Ten unique situations make up this special teams package. These areas include kick off, onside kick, kick off return, hands team, punt, punt fake, punt block, punt return, extra point/field goal and fake extra point/field goal. The punt game, onside package, punt block systems make it difficult for the opponent to prepare for Ripon. In all, 20% of all plays in a high school game are special team situations. This DVD is a complete presentation on special teams at the high school level and has been a crucial part of the consistent success at Ripon High School.

This DVD centers on the advantages of running the Rocket Sweep. Because there are countless offenses to choose from in football, Coach Diericx dissects the question, "Why the Rocket Sweep?" Not only is it easy to install at all levels, it forces the defense to play sideline to sideline, it requires minimal blocking and it includes excellent counters and play action. To set the stage for this offensive system, Diericx shares his 10 principles for the Rocket Sweep. "Two blocks to success," minimizing blitzing and stunting and utilizing as many formations as possible are three of the keys. Detailed diagrams illustrate the Rocket to the Split End side. The "midline" is explained to demonstrate pitch options from the quarterback. Also demonstrated is the Rocket Sweep to the Tight End side. The Rocket can also be run to the Nub side, a two-blocker surface or in a T-Formation set. Timing is essential to run the Rocket. The Rocket Timing Drill works on precision timing and incorporates all elements of the play. To strengthen the play, Diericx diagrams companion plays that can be run in this set. The Belly Cross Block play, Down play, Down Option and Trap play are broken down. This DVD is a complete examination of the potent Rocket Sweep. Whether you run or defend the Rocket, the principles, keys and teaching points presented can help your team on both sides of the ball. Complete with companion plays, the Rocket Sweep is a dangerous weapon to any offensive system.

This DVD deals with passing plays from the Rocket Sweep set. Because the Rocket is a potent offensive weapon, the pass options from the Rocket become more difficult to defend. Coach Diericx begins with the Rocket Waggle pass, which is a great run/pass option and an effective motion key breaker. The next pattern, Rocket Belly Choice, is an all-purpose play that produces great "run after catch yardage." Against Cover 2 defense, Diericx diagrams the "Cover 2 beater." The Rocket Belly Fade pattern relies on the wingback to run an inside/out fade route, splitting the corner and the safety. Diericx diagrams the Rocket Belly Out pattern against a Cover 3 team. A Variation is the Rocket Belly Keep pass. In the same set against the cover 2, the Smash route is demonstrated. A fullback screen play, the Rocket Screen, can be run from the left hash. The three step game shows Rocket Action to the right, quick pass to the left. The Rocket Dash pass shows Rocket action to the wide side and matches the split end with the corner. The Rocket hitch screen is another quick pass play. This passing offense is a great complement to the dangerous Rocket Sweep running attack. These 15 pass patterns will keep the defensive guessing from end zone to end zone!
